NDFB Scholarships Online - Students pursuing a graduate degree, high school students preparing for college and undergraduates majoring in agriculture should consider applying for North Dakota Farm Bureau scholarships. The scholarships include one for graduate students; one for students enrolled in agriculture majors, a Farm Bureau family scholarship and the Becki Palmer Scholarship, a memorial scholarship for a long-time staff member who passed away from cancer. A new scholarship was added this year, targeting high school seniors who are enrolled in an ag school. Scholarship applications are available on-line. MSA United Way Day of Caring - Do you know someone that is in need or know of a project that could benefit our community? United Way is currently accepting project requests for their annual Day of Caring. Area non-profit organizations, civic agencies, faith based organizations and elderly or disabled individuals are encouraged to submit requests.
On August 13, hundreds of community volunteers will come together to complete projects. Projects may include painting, repairs, moving, cleaning, yard work, etc. The deadline for project requests is May 2. To submit a request, visit www.msaunitedway.org/doc or call 255.3601.
Mandan Spring Clean Up Week: April 26 - May 3 - During Spring Clean-Up Week, residents may place bulky items (no more than two people can lift) at their boulevard by 5 a.m. on their normally scheduled garbage collection day. Public Works crews will not collect items in alleyways or mobile home parks. Please keep items for discard separate from household garbage as well as from belongings you do not want collected. Mark old garbage cans, crates, or boxes you want to get rid of, or they will be emptied and left. The City landfill will be open free of charge to Mandan residents from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 and Monday, April 28 to Saturday, May 3. There will be a $2.00 charge for automobile tires taken to the landfill during Spring Clean Up. Please bring some form i.d. to the landfill showing proof of living in the City of Mandan. Dan's Supermarket supports Farm Rescue - Dan's Supermarket is offering their checkout donation program to support Farm Rescue, a nonprofit organization that provides planting and harvesting assistance free of charge to farm families who have experienced a major illness, injury or natural disaster. This program will run from May 1st through the 14th. Farm Rescue is currently accepting applications for the 2014 planting season, which can be obtained by calling 252-2017 till the end of April. www.farmrescue.org
