Scholarship Available - The Bismarck Cancer Center (BCC) Foundation is excited to announce the third annual BCC Foundation Donna Johnson Memorial Scholarship. This program provides scholarships to individuals who are interested in and committed to oncology nursing and who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing through a Bismarck college. Scholarships are also available to registered nurses pursuing a master’s degree or oncology certification. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2014 to qualified individuals. The deadline for the scholarship application is March 1, 2014. Scholarship applications can be picked up at the Bismarck Cancer Center or found on our website at www.bismarckcancercenter.com.
Shade Tree Players Kids Classes Sign-up - The revered children's theatre program offers new and exciting classes for kids from 7-17 for their March and April pre-season. Offerings: Play in a Day, Intro to Improv, Welcome to STP, Magic of Make-up and Theatrical Tumbling. Enrollment will be open until March 26. Spots are limited and will be designated on a first come first served basis. Registration forms can be completed ONLINE ONLY. Confirmations will be sent to participants upon receipt of payment. Parenting During Recovery Program - Heartview Foundation is offering the “Parenting During Recovery” program in collaboration with NDSU Extension/Burleigh County and Region VII Parenting Resource Center. Parenting During Recovery is a grant funded program made available by the City of Bismarck for parents living in Burleigh County who are currently in treatment or aftercare. The goal of the program is to reduce barriers which may make it difficult for low or moderate income parents to access the services they need for recovery and healthy family relationships. Parents will learn talking tips for communicating with their children, how to balance parenting with recovery, positive discipline techniques and how to involve their children in positive youth development activities. Bismarck School Board Members Needed - There are three seats open for the Bismarck School Board election, which will be held Tuesday, June 10th, in conjunction with the State Primary Election. The deadline to file to be a candidate in the June election is Monday, April 7th at 4 pm at the Business Manager’s office at the Hughes Educational Center, 806 N. Washington St., in Bismarck. Any person who is a qualified elector and a resident of the Bismarck School District is qualified to be a member of the Bismarck School board. Candidates are required to file a Statement of Candidacy and a Statement of Interests, which are available on the District’s website under “Upcoming Events” at www.bismarckschools.org or in the Business Manager’s office, 806 N. Washington St., or by calling 323-4056 to request that the forms be mailed.
NDFB Scholarships Online - Students pursuing a graduate degree, high school students preparing for college and undergraduates majoring in agriculture should consider applying for North Dakota Farm Bureau scholarships. The scholarships include one for graduate students; one for students enrolled in agriculture majors, a Farm Bureau family scholarship and the Becki Palmer Scholarship, a memorial scholarship for a long-time staff member who passed away from cancer. A new scholarship was added this year, targeting high school seniors who are enrolled in an ag school. Scholarship applications are available on-line.
