In 1974, Christian, outreach-minded individuals from the Bismarck-Mandan communities began praying about a locally-operated Christian radio station to broadcast the good news of Jesus Christ to the Central Dakotas. Central Dakota Enterprises was incorporated in 1975, DBA: KNDR Radio. On June 19, 1977, KNDR commenced broadcasting 18 hours a day as a 3,000 Watt radio station (KNDR 104.9 FM). In September of 1981, the IRS approved KNDR as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
Our biggest fundraiser of the year Sharathon debuted in 1982. The goal of $40,000 was exceeded. In 1985, KNDR was granted license from the FCC to broadcast at 100,000 Watts at 104.7 FM within an 80 mile radius of Mandan, ND. In 1992, KNDR began broadcasting 24 hours a day. Translators began repeating the KNDR signal with three 250 Watts (approximately 30 mile radius) translators in Beulah, ND (107.9 FM), Firesteel, ND (106.9 FM) and Mobridge, SD (107.1 FM) in 2005.
KNDR is blessed to have celebrated 35 years of ministry in 2012 and continues to broadcast the hope, love and healing available in our Savior Jesus Christ!
